Victoria University
of Wellington
Since February 2022, Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington has proudly implemented a campus-wide ban on single-use cups as part of its sustainability efforts. The university’s commitment to reducing waste and environmental impact aligns perfectly with Nonstop Solutions' mission. For the past three years, Nonstop Solutions has partnered with Victoria University to provide waste minimisation services, focusing on reusable solutions that help them maintain a single-use-cup-free campus.
Certain high-traffic events posed unique challenges for the university to maintain its’ single use cup free campus.
Nonstop Solutions partnered with Victoria University during these key events, providing both logistical support and education solutions:
Supporting a Single-Use-Cup-Free Campus at Te Herenga Waka
Open Day and O-Week
Open Day
An influx of visitors, prospective students, and parents meant a significant increase in coffee consumption across campus. This resulted in a need for system support to handle the large volume of reusable mugs.
Our Solutions: Auraki Cup System Support
Nonstop Solutions supports the campus cafes and any hubs serving drinks, facilitating the distribution, collection, and washing of mugs to ensure a seamless experience for students, staff, and visitors. We worked closely with the university to ensure that no single-use cups were necessary, even during this peak time.
O-Week
Introducing new students to the campus culture and educating them on the reusable cup system is important.
Our Solutions: O-Week Engagement and Education:
For O-Week, Nonstop Solutions took on the role of educating new students about the university’s reusable cup system. We set up a booth in the hub, engaging with students, running giveaways and explaining how to borrow, use, and return mugs. Our team made sustainability approachable, helping to embed these behaviours into everyday campus life.
Nonstop Solutions has been integral to our work to make new students aware of the Auraki Reusable Coffee Cup scheme at the University. Nonstop staff have been punctual, pleasant, dedicated, and passionate about the work they do. I would recommend the team unreservedly to other institutions or companies.
