CubaDupa and Nonstop have partnered to minimise the waste at New Zealand’s largest outdoor arts and music festival since 2019. In 2024, we successfully diverted 78.5% of all resources from landfill - that’s 3.5 tonnes! For an open street festival of this significant size - this is a fantastic result, as open street festivals have less control of the waste the event can generate.
Work to minimise the total amount of waste created was also successful, with 600kg less than expected off the total amount of waste. This was supported by the implementation of reusable cups and a push for attendees to bring their own reusable bags and drink bottles to the festival.
